Thought I’d answer of those most frequently asked questions we get from our customers in the oil industry.

Question: How do you pressure wash industrial equipment and not get oil on the ground?

Pressure washing industrial equipment can be challenging, especially when trying to avoid getting oil or other fluids on the ground. Here are some steps we take to prevent that from happening:

1. Use of a containment mat: A containment mat can be placed under the equipment to capture any oil or fluids that may leak during the pressure washing process.

2. Use absorbent pads or socks: Absorbent pads or socks can be placed around the equipment to soak up any oil or fluids that may drip or spray during pressure washing.

3. Use a degreaser: Before pressure washing, apply a degreaser to the equipment to break down and remove any built-up oil or grease. This can help prevent excess oil from spreading during pressure washing.

4. Use a low-pressure setting: Start with a low-pressure setting on your pressure washer to avoid spraying too much water and oil around. Gradually increase the pressure as needed, while being mindful of not spraying too much water around.

5. Direct the water flow away from the ground: When pressure washing, direct the water flow away from the ground, and towards a drain or collection area. This can help prevent oil from spreading on the ground.

6. Use a pump or vacuum system: Consider using a pump or vacuum system to remove any oil or fluids from the equipment before pressure washing. This can help prevent excess oil from spreading around during the cleaning process.
